Michael Hart
Chairman & CEO

Michael Hart has provided the inspiration, leadership and vision for the founding and development of TPS Capital.

He has over 30 years’ involvement in New Zealand’s financial sector, undertaking the raising of funds for a variety of significant off-shore development projects. He has extensive experience over a wide range of businesses, from property development, financial planning, sourcing of mortgage and loan funds and risk management, to public relations, publishing, tourism and immigration.

Michael has been an experienced CEO of companies which have been involved with marketing Education offshore; international development of online Education; Investment and Project Finance; Mortgage Finance; Holiday Timeshare Resorts: Project management; Public Relations; Publishing; Media representation; Community Newspapers and Business consulting.

In the 1970s, he founded and operated two successful community newspapers. He also found time to serve as Chairman or Executive member of a number of residents, community, public transport and business groups over a period of 20 years. In the early 1980’s he was elected as an Auckland City Councillor and initiated a number of major reports during his time on the Council.

He was one of two founders of the Ponsonby Citizens Advice Bureau in 1970 which was the forerunner of the Citizens Advice Bureaux now established throughout New Zealand.

Michael has had a lifelong interest in politics and has worked at times with various New Zealand Members of Parliament and has maintained very good relationships with Government Ministers over many years

Michael has a long standing interest in expanding investment and cultural ties between New Zealand and Asia. Commencing in October 1994, he has had extensive work and living experience in Asia spanning over more than 20 years, particularly in Hong Kong and mainland China. Chinese cities he has lived in include – Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
He has extensive knowledge of Chinese culture and business etiquette and has many personal and business relationships established at all levels of Chinese society.
In the early 2000s, he participated in two New Zealand Government delegations to China – one in Trade and the other in Education.
He has traveled throughout China and has visited over 80 cities, towns and villages.

He is the former Chairman and CEO of the Global Group of companies, a position he held for about seven years, including Global Partners (Asia) Limited based in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Michael is a member of the New Zealand China Trade Association and the Auckland Chamber of Commerce.

Gary Warner
General Manager - Corporate Advisory

Gary's experience in the financial services sector was gained over 30 years in the cities of London, Melbourne and Auckland.
He has gained a vast knowledge from working in such varied fields as Futures and Options, Foreign Exchange, Corporate and Business Banking, Stock Broking, Private Banking and Wealth Management. Gary has held senior roles in Australia and here with such blue chip organizations as NAB Private Wealth, ANZ Banking Group, and Ord Minnett, the most recent being General Manager of Apex Capital Ltd and previous to that General Manager of the Investment Research Group, both based in Auckland.
An accomplished public speaker Gary has delivered many public seminars on various investment themes and wrote regular articles for the NZ Investor Magazine.
Educated at the University of Waikato where he completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Services. He is also an Authorized Financial Adviser (AFA).

Perry Qu
Group Manager - International

Perry Qu has a strong background as a senior investment adviser and business consultant in New Zealand and Australia.
His extensive investing and trading experience covers the financial markets of New Zealand, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.
He has previously specialised in secondary market activity with Foreign Exchange, Futures, Options, Commodities Stocks and Fixed Interest.
In addition, he has consulted successfully for a number of overseas investors and companies with respect to start-up activity, growth strategies or listing of their businesses. The latter have covered import, export, real estate, natural resources, foodstuffs, farming, wineries & vineyards as well as financial services connected with both the New Zealand and Australian Stock Exchanges.
Perry understands, and has extensive experience in, the business environment of New Zealand, Australia and China.
Perry holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from Massey University in New Zealand as well as the Australian RG146 certificate.
He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and the New Zealand China Trade Association.
